Tokyo's Imports: Chang-Yong Lim

Lim has been integral to Tokyo's success this season.

Mr. Lim is currently enjoying his moment in the sun at the All-Star game up in Hokkaido (and down in Hiroshima tomorrow), and boy has he earned it in 2009.

In case you’re wondering, this [...]

Kawashima takes Shimoyanagi deep.

July 20th, 2009 Tokyo Yakult Swallows 3 Hanshin Tigers 2 Streak: Won 2     Last 5:  WWLWW (Koshien) Yuuki hung in there just long enough to get his third win of the season, and the Swallows survived the Hanshin counter-attack to take the first game of the series.

July 19th, 2009 Tokyo Yakult Swallows 3 Hiroshima Toyo Carp 1 Streak: Won 1     Last 5: LWWLW The day after the Tokyo bullpen had been given a bloody nose in a late come from behind beating from Hiroshima, Masanori Ishikawa went deep into the game to give those tired arms a rest.

D'Antona admires number 16.

July 17th, 2009 Tokyo Yakult Swallows 5 Hiroshima Toyo Carp 2 Streak: Won 2    Last 5: LLLWW (Mazda Stadium) The still inconsistent Swallows pitching staff made the trip south to Hiroshima to take on the slumping Carp in a best of three series that kicks off the long weekend. Swallows of July

It’s an off-day today before the Swallows (and I) head down to Hiroshima to face the Carp at the shiny new “Zoom Zoom” Stadium. In the meantime, here’s the official TYS calender page for this month, featuring the two generals of the Tokyo infield defence, Shinya Miyamoto (3B, formally SS) and the “Diamond Master” beavis [...]

The Swallows receive the wrong kind of Guinness.

July 15th, 2009 Yomiuri Giants 7 Tokyo Yakult Swallows 13 Streak: Won 1   Last 5: WLLLW (Jingu Stadium) On the first pitch of the game, Sakamoto, that little pre-pubescent twerp, smacked a double off the wall in center. But Tokyo starter, Tateyama, weathered the storm and got out of the inning relatively unscathed.  The [...]

7/14/09 – Yomiuri (Home)

July 14th, 2009 Yomiuri Giants 4 Tokyo Yakult Swallows 0 Streak: Lost 3   Last 5: WWLLL (Iwaki Green Stadium Fukushima) Tokyo again did what they do best when facing their cross-city rivals, they rolled over and played dead as they once again became the Giants’ bitches. They might as well all get orange arrows tattooed [...]
