Swallows 40th Anniversary

40th Anniversary LogoLast week the Swallows put up a rather snazzy new site to coincide with their 40th Anniversary celebrations in 2009. It seems that the club will be using the new logo (see left) as their primary logo for the 2009 campaign, which is fine by me as the old one was terrible.

While the site is a little light on content now, it looks like it will be added to throughout the season. Currently accessible are details of “Legend” players of the past as well as notable uniform numbers.

Listed as coming soon is an events section, so hopefully the club will be putting on some decent promotions to get some bums on seats at Jingu this coming season.

All in all, an unusually professional offering from the organisation. Have a look.

    Wow – well done! One minor whine about the logo – yo. At a glance, I keep seeing 40 as yo. I’ll get used to it soon, I’m sure.

    I guess the “4″ is meant to double as the “Y” of the “Yakult Baseball Team” that’s written across the centre of the logo.

    It does look like yo more than 40 though, you’re right.

    Cool logo! The old YS hat that they used before the one they are using now was legendary. That YS hat together with the Hanshin pin stripes hat are among 2 of my all time favorite baseball hats, design wise.

    Holy cow! I feel like so much of our whole-hearted griping over so many beers at so many losses with so many empty seats have come to something. That site looks good. Once the content they’re promising is there, it will be a strong contender for best site in NPB (which is, granted, kind of like being the best player on the over-80 triple-amputee European baseball team.)

    The web page is better than Euro baseball. Netherlands do not count as they cololonised some islands over there and most of the Italians are fake Italians, Americans.

    As a resident of Yuma, Arizona USA (where the T.Y.S. used to hold spring training), I wish the T.Y.S. a happy 40th anniversary!

      Gald to hear it, William. Despite the Swallows’ collapse in the second half of this season, Arizona has been kind to the team – camp in Yuma and Jamie D’Antona – one of Tokyo’s few bright lights this season – from the D’backs organization.
