This rather meaningless game took two hours and eleven minutes from first pitch to last out. That’s gotta be some kind of record.

Or at least for me it is.

Rookie Yoshinori (4.55) started this one for Tokyo and he had another solid outing. He was perfect through five and 2/3′s until he gave up a soft single to Yokohama’s pitcher, Miura. In the end he gave up only two hits and one run through eight innings (89 pitches, 5 K’s, no walks). Yoshinori is now 2-1.

Miura (3.56) took the loss for Yokohama. His record now sits at 7-10.

On offense, Noguchi, one of the many forgotten talented players buried in the morrass that is Tokyo’s ni-gun team, had his second home run (solo shot) in as many games. He went 1-4 and also drew two walks. He’s a keeper.

Fukuchi and Kawamoto had two hits and one rbi each.

Lim (3.06) came on in the ninth to secure his 32nd save of the year on only five pitches (one strikeout).

Many of the fans at Jingu were keenly tuned into the battle going on at Tokyo Dome while watching tonight’s game. Much to the crowd’s dismay, Yomiuri pulled out another win and got one step closer to winning the penant.

It is now up to Tokyo to make sure that the orange masses go home disappointed this weekend when they descend on Jingu stadium for games this Friday and Saturday.

Tokyo has had yet another lousy season against their cross-town rivals with a record of 6-16 versus the most expensive roster in NPB history.

Tokyo’s last game is at home against Yokohama on Sunday.

Spoiler alert: Ramirez will hit at least two home runs against Tokyo this weekend.

    Oh god I hope Rami-chan doesn’t hit a ton of home runs this weekend. Despite that I am really pissed off at Yokohama right now, I want Murata to get the home run title again.

    (On the note of being pissed off at Yokohama, I honestly couldn’t decide whether I wanted Bancho to win the game against Yakult so he’d want to stay with Yokohama, or kind of hoped he’d lose so he’d be pissed off and want to leave more. This is getting very frustrating. You guys might see me defect to being a Yakult fan next year.)

    Defectors are always welcome. Or you could be our contact in the Yokohama organization and help other defectors make their way out.

    For what it’s worth, I’d like to see Murata get the title as well – poor Yokohama could use a bright spot.

    Of course, I’d like to see the Swallows manage to knock Yomiuri into second, too, so I’m hoping Rami-chan has a bad weekend. (That, and part of me still wants to like the guy, which is easier if his performance for the Giants is less stellar than his performance for Tokyo was.)
