Tokyo Yakult Swallows 0
Hiroshima Toyo Carp 5
Streak: L2 Last 5: WLWLL
(Hiroshima Stadium)
Tokyo found themselves on the end of a complete game shutout for the second time in a week, as Hiroshima starter Lewis went the distance holding the birds to just four hits.
Lewis was magnificent, picking up his 15th win of the year, stiking out eleven and walking just one.
Yakult’s starter was Douglass, who did not fare so well, giving up four runs off five hits in his four innings. Reliever Maruayama gave up the other run in the 5th. Matsui worked a scoreless 6th and 7th and Yoshikawa pitching the 8th.
This was the first game of the final series at the old Hiroshima Stadium, with the last game being played Sunday at 2pm.
The loss leaves Tokyo 5.5 games out of 3rd with 12 to play.
