Yokohama BayStars 1
Tokyo Yakult Swallows 4
Streak: Won 3 Last 5:LLWWW
(Jingu Stadium)
Yakult made it three wins in a row as a solid start from Ryo Kawashima combined with strong support from the bullpen was enough to contain the Baystars on Saturday night.
Kawashima pitched 5 and 2/3 innings of one run baseball, giving up five hits with two strikeouts. Kawashima did stuggle with his control however, giving up six walks in the game. The only run he allowed was a solo homer from Murata in the 6th.
The bullpen took over and the trio of Kida, Matsuoka and Igarashi allowed just one more hit for the Baystars as they shut down the game.
Offensively, Tokyo scored two in the 2nd and two in the 8th – Aoki, Keizo Kawashima and Fukuchi with the RBIs.
This win puts Yakult three games behind the slumping 4th placed Dragons.
Game three of the series is Sunday evening at Jingu, weather permitting.
