Yomiuri Giants 5

Tokyo Yakult Swallows 0
Streak: Lost 3 Last 5:WWLLL
(Meiji Jingu Stadium)
Yakult got blown away for the second night in a row, this time held to just two hits in a game that lasted barely two and a half hours.
Tokyo’s starter was Muranaka, who managed 6 innings, giving up five runs (three in the 1st and two in the 4th) off five hits for his 11th loss of the year. Yomiuri’s starter was the Australian Burnside who gave up just two hits in his 7 innings before the bullpen took over and shut down the Yakult bats.
The only other thing of note for the Swallows on a generally miserable night was veteran reliever Kida making his first appearance of the season, giving up just one hit and no runs in the 7th and 8th innings.
The two teams meet again Thursday for the final game of the series, with Yakult trying to avoid being swept before NPB shuts down for the Olympic Baseball final rounds on Friday and Saturday.
