Tokyo Yakult Swallows 1

Yomiuri Giants 6
Streak: Lost 2. Last 5: LWWLL
(Tokyo Dome)
Ex-Swallow Seth Greisinger pitched a gem of a game as Tokyo got thumped by Yomiuri Thursday night at Tokyo Dome.
Greisinger dominated proceedings, pitching eight shutout innings, giving up six hits, striking out nine, walking none and never letting a Yakult runner past second base.
Tokyo’s starter was the rookie Katoh, brought back into the rotation to plug the gap left by the recently departed Rios. Katoh battled gamely but had given up four runs off six hits with one homerun when he was taken out of the game in the 6th inning.
Yomiuri added a run in the 1st through an RBI from Tani, and in the 5th through an Ogasawara solo homer to take a 0-2 lead. They would add two more in the 6th to stretch the lead to 0-4, with Abe and Sakamoto batting in the runs. The lead became six runs in the 8th as Takahashi Yoshinobu blasted a two run homer off Yakult reliever Takagi.
The Swallows batters were kept quiet throughout by Greisinger, and they only managed to score a consolation run in the 9th off Yomiuri reliever Toyoda, with Fukukawa bringing home Wilson to make it 1-6 final.
Katoh took the loss, his 2nd of the year. Also Aaron Guiel started his first game since his injury, but only got on base once in his four at-bats, by way of a dead ball in the 6th inning.
From Tokyo, Yakult move on to Hiroshima for a three game series with the Carp starting Friday night.
