Recap:
Tokyo starter Tateyama threw eight solid innings and the offense racked up 13 hits as the Swallows jumped out to a lead early on and never looked back.
Tateyama notched his fifth win of the season while Saitama ace, Wakui, saw his record fall to 5-5. Wakui was chased after five innings and gave up seven earned runs.
Tokyo had six hits in the first inning. Five of those hits came with two outs, and four runs scored. Three more runs were scored in the fifth after Hatakeyama doubled to left, Iihara drew a walk, and then catcher Kawamoto drilled one into the left field bleachers. It was Kawamoto’s first home run of the season.
Saitama’s lone run came off a solo home run by Brazell in the second. It was his 15th of the season.
Tateyama gave up one run off of four hits. He struck out eight batters and issued no walks. His ERA dropped to 2.91after his 8th appearance of the season.
Tokyo play Saitama again tomorrow afternoon in Hitachinaka (another home away from home game for Tokyo).
